GOAL: For the Brave Girls to establish positive thought patterns aligning with the Word of God. Often, whatever they are focusing and dwelling on can consume them. If they are constantly thinking of the negative in their situation, the fears, doubts, and worries of this world might consume them. However, if they choose to focus on Jesus, they can be at rest—trusting He can calm all storms, fears, and doubts they face.

• You may still have a few new girls that would like to join class, but you'll probably want to close your group after weeks 3-4. Help connect any girls that reach out past that point to another group in the area, or let them know approximately when the next semester will start so they can join from the beginning!
• Of course, always let the Lord lead you in either letting others join after the cut-off day or asking them to wait until the following semester.
Supplies: Colored pencils, markers, scissors, glue, small cans/containers, stickers, and decorative paper
God Can: Use this visual to teach your Brave Girls to put their trust, requests, and needs into God's hands by asking Him for provision. They can write their prayer requests, needs, thoughts, and emotions down on paper and put them in the God Can. As the prayers are answered, needs are met, and emotions resolved she can date them and look back at God’s faithfulness to her. This also provides a healthy way for Brave Girls to express themselves instead of ignoring or storing emotion. If the God Can is not doable, you can use journals or notebooks, and pens to do the same thing.
Help the Brave Girls to realize how powerful their words and thoughts are and give them some practical ways to refocus from negative to positive. This lesson can directly relate to anxiety/depression/mental health. This is something many young women struggle with to some degree but have been pushed away or left unresolved to be strong, or maybe even just to prove people wrong.
This lesson talks about how their emotions have value. Creating a safe place for young women in your group to voice their emotions and sit in it, just as Jesus did, can speak volumes. As leaders, we're not counselors, but we can hear and feel with these moms and pray with them- this is a good opportunity to build trust and show them the love of Jesus.
